TFN Fellow 2024

Sumeetha is inherently curious and a perpetual learner, always seeking avenues for personal growth and self-improvement. Nature and psychology stand out as her primary interests, nurtured by her upbringing amidst the serene backdrop of a lake behind her house and expansive open lands. These surroundings provided ample opportunities for exploration, from encounters with various snakes to observing baya weavers nesting on coconut trees.

Having completed a Leadership course in Biodiversity Conservation from BNHS, Sumeetha briefly volunteered as a docent at the Madras Crocodile Bank while simultaneously pursuing a career in IT. Beyond her professional pursuits, she actively engages in activities such as birdwatching, insect observation, and tree identification, all of which deepen her connection with nature.

Driven by a deep sense of environmental stewardship, Sumeetha believes in the importance of engaging students in sustainability initiatives to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. She recognizes the innate curiosity, compassion, and open-mindedness of children, viewing them as powerful agents of change in safeguarding the planet's future. Joining the fellowship brings her immense joy, as it aligns with her commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious individuals.
