Rahul Bora, a social entrepreneur hailing from Jorhat, Assam, is deeply passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children, particularly concerning environmental education. Raised amidst the natural splendour of Assam, he has always been drawn to the beauty of nature. However, he recognized a significant gap in how children are taught about nature and the environment in schools—a gap between knowledge acquisition and practical application.
Motivated by this realization, Rahul felt compelled to join the Teach for Nature fellowship program. His goal is to bridge this educational gap by empowering students to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts. Through his social enterprise, "Thoughts to Action," Rahul has been implementing art-based curricula to teach social-emotional learning and artistic skills to students in low-income government schools. Now, he seeks to expand upon this initiative, firmly believing in engaging children in climate action as the future stewards of the Earth.
Rahul envisions integrating practical, action-based activities into children's education to cultivate a generation that not only comprehends environmental issues but also feels empowered to take meaningful steps towards conservation. The Teach for Nature fellowship represents an invaluable opportunity for him to deepen his impact as a nature educator. He is eager to develop innovative tools such as awareness toolkits and climate change stories, empowering students to forge tangible connections with nature through actionable steps.
