Online Modules and Short Programmes

Online Modules &
Short Programmes

About the online programmes:

This year we offer five online short modules. Each of these modules will see participants engage with our facilitators for six online sessions of 2 hours each. Apart from the online sessions, suggestions for experiential and hands-on work wherever possible will be made; there will also be preparatory and review work that the participants will be expected to complete.

Those who attend the entire module will receive a certificate from Bhoomi of module completion. All sessions will be held on zoom and login information along with resource materials and instructions will be provided well in advance.

The first Online Module is starting on 4th July, 2020

Details of the Modules offered:

1. Connecting to Self, Land and Community (4th July - 8th August, 2020)

The module will focus on how we can connect better with ourselves and ecosystems around us. Systems Thinking, Complexity and Nature's Principles will be explored to see how we can foster a sense of belonging and stewardship to the ecosystems that we are part of. Facilitators and the group will go on a shared journey of holistic enquiry within oneself and with each other.

2. Food, Health and Immunity (16th August – 5th September, 2020)

“We are what we eat”

This module will focus on the interconnections that are there between the food we eat and our wellbeing. The facilitators and the group will also engage with how we can take charge of our health by building immunity and resilience within us rather than being dependent on experts alone or panic at the thought of infections. Perspective building around processed food, forgotten grains, local foods as well as sharing recipes that are wholesome and local.

3. Let us Localise (12th September – 27th September, 2020)

Today many voices around are looking at localisation - at least for basics and staples - as a solution to the problems created by unbridled globalisation that is dominating the world.

This module will attempt to invite participants to an action oriented way of engaging with localisation - by understanding their own localities and forming groups to initiate local projects. The glamour of globalisation, how localisation is good for our wellbeing, local foods, examples of local economies, sharing of ideas and tips for community building will be some of the themes of the six sessions of this module.

4. Ecological Living in Urban Areas (10th October – 1st November, 2020)

This module will focus on ways in which we can make urban life more sustainable. The module will focus on water, waste and energy as the main three issues that we deal with in cities today. At present cities are huge resource consumers while rural areas have resources sucked out of them - as is very evident when it comes to water, minerals and labour. Hence we will explore the possibility of making cities regenerative. We will also look at community initiatives across the country and the world that are working on urban sustainability

5. Education for Sustainability (7th November – 29th November, 2020)

This module will focus on the kind of education that is essential for more ecologically sensitive living. Along with concepts and information, learning processes for living, such as cooperation / collaboration, self-regulation, critical and holistic thinking will be engaged with. The important elements for such an education will be touched upon - for example deep acceptance of diversity, education about food and wellbeing, holistic inquiry etc.

Who is it for?

  • Students interested in exploring meaningful career options.
  • Individuals and groups working for NGOs and other initiatives.
